I’m surprised if SPN intended to do this. I think a lot of companies don’t put the time and effort into link building they should, so they end up outsourcing to a firm that promises X amount of links. The problem is that they don’t know the details of how the program will work until it is too late and brand damage has occurred.

Exactly. People worry about racking up lots of backlinks, but in reality, a small amount of anchor text rich backlinks from the right sources can be quite powerful.

The comment spam I get on my blogs never sees the light of day either but it never occured to me to look up the spammers. ha ha. Very interesting research.
