I personally am sick of Google. I put in a search term and it asks me if I mean this or that. I look in the list and I see advertisements after the third item in search results. I usually see fluff because google rewards those that build ridiculous linking campaigns to pathetic sites and so the sites that get listed in google search results are horrible. I'm not an seo expert but I really do hope google loses a gigantic chunk of it's users to Bing. When I switched to Bing I actually started finding sites that had what I was looking for. They seem to reward the sites that actually have the phrase you are seeking and not the phrase website owners plaster all over the internet on worthless pages in an attempt to make google think they are a highly noticed site by means of link campaigning. Google was great in the beginning because it was fast, but Bing is just as fast. I'm just ranting, but I was searching for extended stay motels and google kept showing me the same corporate crap they always show, but when I used Bing, I actually saw little sites. Little sites that google hides and it actually had exactly what I was looking for. I look for cheap plane tickets and I see the usual crap. Priceline, Expedia, Travelocity...etc. Always the same. And none of them offer the lowest prices. I used Bing and I find little sites that give me the actual lowest price. I'm not advertising for any particular place to purchase anything, but with Bing you actually get to see what you want. With Google, you get to see a bunch of SEO tricks, same tiring information, corporations always first. I personally don't believe that Google puts the best sites forward. Also Google is the biggest spyware site on the planet! You think just by clearing your cookies you are getting away from what they put in your computer. Think again. All those free services google offers is just another way for google to monitor. I'm not a conspiracy freak either. I just have programs that tell me what programs and scripts are trying to send information out of my computer, and more importantly WHAT information is being sent. It's not always for checking if I have the latest copy of their newest software. So just beware. I don't know if Bing will use these practices, but I haven't seen anything yet.

Thank you very much for your article. It is very interesting. As for the free services that Google provides, me personally do not use them much. I am as SEO use statistical services only. And for average user the most important thing is to find the needed information asap. Bing is new and that is why it will attract people who are bored with old but still reliable Google and Yahoo. And those cute pictures of Bing attract me personally also. Sometimes I go to the Bing homepage just to see their new background :-)
And I can not say that the search results are unsatisfactory using Bing. To my mind they will be improved very very soon. I thing that Google era will be in past soon... tshhhhh

I agree with you in that it does take time to learn about all the features Google has to offer, and they keep adding to the list. Bing is definitely more appealing aesthetically, but I have doubts as to how relevant their searches are capable of getting. Google's layout is boring, but it is utilitarian in nature- it just gets the job done...
