Get More From Your Call to Action with These 4 Tactics
Crafting a well-written call to action is only half of the battle of getting visitors on your website to take the action you desire. Sometimes, your call to action needs just a little more oomph to get the results you really desire.
Here are 4 simple tactics you can experiment with to get more from your call to action.
- Use buttons to draw attention—I’ve seen a number of different studies showing that a call to action in the form of a button rather than just text gets more clicks. Buttons catch the eye, so the visitor clearly sees what you want them to do. Check out Performable, a tool that lets you create your own call to action button in just seconds.
- Experiment with different colors—Try different button colors and text colors for your call to action. You might not think it matters, but it does. Certain color combinations just get better results than others. Weird, I know.
- Test different placements—Experiment with the location of your call to action on the landing page. I like to try to include a call to action in every screen view of the landing page, so that no matter where someone is on the page, they see a call to action.
- Include a sense of urgency—Why are infomercials so effective? Because they do an excellent job at creating a sense of urgency. They have timers counting down, encouraging viewers to call and order before time runs out on the deal. You need to create a sense of urgency with your call to action to snap people out of their passivity.
