When it comes to promoting your company and keeping its reputation strong, your employees are your best asset. They are the ones who spend every day interacting with your customers. They’re the face of your company. And when they leave work, they’re still representing your company as they hang out with their friends, go out on the town, relax with their families, and so on. You want to make sure that they’re talking about your company in a positive way that reflects the brand image you desire.
More simply stated, you want your employees to be passionate ambassadors for your brand.
How can you do this? Here are several simple tips you can follow to turn your employees into your best brand ambassadors.
- Make them feel important—No one wants to be an ambassador for a company they hate working for. You have to make sure your employees feel important and respected. The best way to do this is to listen to them and to incorporate their feedback and ideas into your business. This gives them a sense of pride and ownership in your company, so they’ll be far likelier to promote it.
- Have company values that you stick to—Employees enjoy working for companies that stand for something. It makes them feel good about where they work, and it makes the work they do seem even more important. Your company should have clear values that guides everything you do, and you should share these values with your team so they can implement them in everything they do.
- Encourage them to talk about your company—Employees can’t be brand ambassadors if you’re not letting them speak about your company. You should be encouraging them to share your content and spread the word about your brand online. However, I do recommend creating a social media policy with clear guidelines that need to be followed when representing your company online.
- Reward them for sharing—Let’s face it, your employees are more motivated to do something when there’s a reward for doing it. That’s why it’s a good idea to reward your employees when they actively promote your company. There are many ways you can do this—from giving them a bonus, giving them a day off, or simply thanking them and recognizing them in front of everyone.
