How To Keep People Coming Back To Your Site?
Getting traffic to your site is one battle; however, with so much focus on increasing traffic to a site, here are some tips on how to keep the traffic you get, and keep people coming back to your site.
Interestingly enough, it seems that the standard today are blogs. Everyone has a blog, 9 out of every 10 searches result in a blog post. Today, it’s all about blog and end user generated content.
So, when you launch a blog, why make your blog like everyone’s blog? Don’t get me wrong, a blog is a blog, and most all conform to the same or similar standards. Most all blogs have an RSS feed. Most all blogs have categories. And most all blogs feature about ten of the most recently published posts on the home page.
But, can’t there be more to your site than just a blog? Think about it… Aside from being a super cool person, what are some really cool things you can do to keep people coming back to your site?
Does your domain name carry a generic term? If so, then provide people with free email accounts. Did you know that Google offers Gmail for Domains? You can get a business account for cheap, or if you’re cheap… you can get a standard account for free. Obviously, some blog URLs are personal names and won’t work for providing free email to people.
Another thing you can do is install an arcade. There are hundreds of arcade applications available, ranging from a few dollars to a few hundred. Some are even free. My advice would be to find an arcade script that allows account registrations and the tracking of high scores. Everyone has a little competitive bug inside, and by creating an environment that encourages competition among your peers is an excellent way to keep them coming back to your site.
If you have a weight-loss blog, offer your readers free web-based software for tracking and logging their diet, weight-loss, and other attributes. If you have a quit smoking blog, offer your readers free live chat support from the hours of 9 am to 12 am. Even though there is only a three hour window, people will still find much value in that.
Really, the sky is the limit. There are many extra things you can do to keep people coming back to your site. Today, software is readily available and in most cases it’s cheap and sometimes even free. What are some things that you can add to this? Don’t be shy, share your thoughts in the comments below.
