Does Your Blog Have Enough of You In It?
Why have blogs become one of the most popular mediums for sharing information? I think one of the biggest reasons is that bloggers put so much of themselves in their work. Readers feel connected to the blogger. The blogger builds relationships with his or her audience, and readers continue to come back time and time again because they truly care about what the blogger has to say.
Putting yourself in your blog is what will make your blog stand out from all the others in your niche. After all, there’s only one of you.
Here are some easy ways to add more of yourself to your blog.
- Author bio—There are a couple of ways you can go about this. You can automatically integrate your author bio and photo into your posts, or you can add a dedicated page to your blog with more info about you and any other authors on your blog.
- Contact information—Give your readers a way to get in touch with you away from your blog. You can post your email address and relevant social media links (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.). This helps you further build relationships with your readers.
- Comment interaction—Don’t be a ghost in your blog’s comments section. You need to take part in the conversation with your readers. Respond to your comments, and try to push the conversation forward. More interaction leads to deeper bonds with your readers.
- Personal stories—Readers like getting useful tips and information, but I’ve found that the posts that get the biggest response are the ones I really put a piece of myself in. My most memorable posts are those where I share a personal story or rant about a topic I’m passionate about.
Are you putting enough of yourself in your blog?
