So true about not making them think to navigate! I've left sites because I've taken a look at them and gone "huh?". If it's easier for people to hit the back button and try another search result than it is to find their way through your maze, you've lost them! If in doubt, have your kids take a look at the web site and watch over their shoulder to see if they can find their way around......

@Gerald: Great question. If you look at http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=96569 , you will see that only does Google encourage people to use nofollow to mark untrusted links (such as comments), but also as a way to disclose paid links (which is a policy that has obviously caused a lot of disagreement).

My main point in this article is that because Google is telling normal website owners that they can use this attribute on their website, using nofollow in advanced ways (such as to sculpt PageRank) will not raise any red flags with Google that a website has been "SEO'd."

Just to be clear on what your talking about regarding the "no-follow" are you saying that Google is advocating the use of "no-follow"? Can you please elaborate on this a bit?

Thanks.

That is something that I have struggled with. I'll need to read more to learn the ins and outs of it.
