I do not agree with this. If low quality backlinks really damage your Trust Rank, then why does Squidoo have so much?
Squidoo obviously has a truck load of bad quality backlinks but it does pretty well.
What’s you explanation for that?

WowI had never thought the obviously simple ways the big G works. The truth of the thing is that even though Search Engines looks at your page numerous times, it still takes a metric tonne of due work on your part in order to get your website to become relevent to the spiders. I guess this just adds to my understanding of search engine optimization.

Trying to get rid of lower quality backlinks would be a headache and a waste of useful time. If you have enough good links, ones like that won’t hurt you much, if at all. You can’t control what websites all link to you exactly so SE’s can’t penalize you for something like that. All you can do is work hard on marketing your website and the best will come. I can’t imagine that links from poor sites can hurt you too much. As well as spending time doing what you suggested,building quality links would probably be the best thing to do with your time.
