This article brings up an interesting point. I find it interesting how some search marketers have a what's better mentality when it comes to organic vs PPC.

The truth is they both have their advantages and disadvantages therefore in my opinion they compliment each other quite nicely.

"1. Quality keywords are hugely expensive and out of the range of most small business owners"

This statement seems to be an over generalization. It really depends on the industry.

"For instance, the internal pages of a website will link throughout a search engine, while PPC only links to the homepage."

This statement is also not correct. Part of any successful PPC campaign is testing different landing pages and offers.

"you could be devoting that time and resources towards other free methods, such as promoting content through social network"

Nothing in life worth having is free. The very fact that you have to devote time and resources attaches a cost. After all time IS money.

Im my opinion you want to be both on the left hand and right hand side of the page as well as adding a nice social element to the mix.

Not trying to break your balls. Just giving you my take. ;-)

Besides PPC you can also buy ads via Ad Brokers and it's up to you whether you just need to promote your brand and use CPM (cost-per-mile) or target leads and use CPA(cost-per-action),PPC (pay-per-click)
